Happy Thanksgiving!

I figured I would take the time to write a blog post about what I am thankful on this day where we are supposed to truly appreciate what we have in life.

First, I am thankful for all my fur babies (who are not all pictured here). Anyone who has pets know that while sometimes they may drive you crazy and you feel like you’re an idiot for having them they really bring joy to your life. I know a lot of people say pets are just dumb animals and they really shouldn’t be considered a part of the family, but they to me my fur babies are a huge part of my family and I love them all so much and couldn’t imagine life without them.

Next I am thankful that while we don’t own this house we are still able to live in a house with such a beautiful backyard and that we have food on the table as there are people who don’t have these luxuries.

And finally I am most grateful for my husband, Aaron. Of course we’ve had our fights and it hasn’t always been sunshine and roses, but that doesn’t mean I regret any of it. Having him in my life has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I wouldn’t trade a single minute of my time spent with or time I will spend with him for anything.

Let me know what you are thankful for and I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving or day if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving!

Tatl and Tael Turned a Year Old!!

Yesterday (November 19th) was my pet rats’ first birthday! While we haven’t had them their whole lives we got them about a month after they were born, so it’s crazy to believe that we’ve already had them for almost a year and they’re already a year old.

They are actually small fancy rats and when we first got them they definitely lived up to the title.

They’ve grown fairly big at least in my opinion and it’s interesting to see how easy it is to tell them apart now. When we first got them they looked like almost identical twins with the only differences being slight variations in their spots. Now Tatl is definitely fatter than his little brother and while his spots turned a super dark brown, Tael’s became more of a beautiful reddish brown color.

I love my ratty boys and I’m looking forward to spending another year with them!

New House Tour

As stated in my last post we moved to Kansas and we were able to finally rent an actual house! This is the first house Aaron and I have lived in together and we’re super excited about it.

This is our quite spacious living room from both sides. As you can see it’s a kind of open concept, but what’s most important is we have plenty of room to display all of our nerdy stuff.

Please excuse our messy kitchen table. It’s nice to have an actual dining room like this as it’s perfect for Aaron to be able to play Pathfinder without him having to take over the living room or anything.

I love our kitchen as this is the biggest kitchen we’ve ever had. All four dogs can be in here and I am still able to walk around freely and get stuff done. It also has plenty of counter space for me to work with even if the cats do still get in the way.

Our bedroom is also pretty nice but a little smaller than the bedroom from our first apartment in Germany, but that’s perfectly fine by me as it’s still a decent sized room.

And finally here is our nice big backyard. Obviously it does not currently look like this as these are pictures from late August when we first moved in. It’s a nice house and while it won’t be our forever home as it is a rental it’s a place that will do just fine for a years if end up staying in this house for that long.

Finally Back with Lots of Updates!!

I’m sorry that I was gone for so long, but life got super crazy and I just didn’t really have the chance to write a blog post and to be fully honest I didn’t really have the motivation to do it either. But I am ready now to start writing on my blog again, so let me catch you up on everything!!

We went to Disneyworld for the first time at the end of August and it was an absolute blast! A couple of of our friends also came with us and that just made it even more awesome and I can’t wait to go back (honestly wish I was there now).

Right after out trip to Disneyworld we moved to Kansas which is something we had been discussing all Summer and so far we aren’t really regretting it. We actually have a three bed two bath house with a nice big back yard and everyone is loving it.

Another crazy thing we did is that we adopted three new dogs (the one not pictured is a Pit Bull/Mastiff mix) and a kitten (she is just a tortie). With the fact that we finally have a fenced in yard and a house we were able to give these fur babies a home and don’t worry we’re not adopting anymore pets.

That is a basic summary of what has been going on in my life. I’m going to start writing on here more regularly again and I look forward to that as writing a blog really is a lot of fun.

Packing Up Yet Again

We have come once again to a time where we need to move. Our lease will be up in our current apartment on August 1st, so we will be moving into a friends’ house for about a month before we move to Kansas.

It’s not the most fun packing up, but I do find that I don’t seem to hate it quite as much as other people do.

Spooky, of course, loves when we pack up seeing as there are plenty of boxes for him to try and jump into until we pick him up and pull him out. Either way, he is happy that he is currently living in a box wonderland.

It’s kind of weird seeing how empty the apartment is getting, bu I’m not at all sad to leave it. Apartment living is not for everyone and we are definitely not the apartment living type of people.

Crazy things are happening what with moving in with friends for a month and then moving to Kansas for four years so that Aaron can go to college there, but I’m looking forward to what the future holds for us. Here’s to hoping we can get packed up and moved out on time!

My Summer so Far

We’re almost halfway through summer already and I decided it was the perfect time to catch up on what’s been going on in my life.

First off I got surgery done on my other foot for those who don’t know. Both of my little toes grew pointing inward, so I had tailor’s bunions and the outside of my feet always hurt at least a little, so that needed to be fixed.

I also decided since it was summer and Aaron said he liked my hair short better I decided to go ahead and get it cut. It’s so much easier to take care of now and I do like it short. I just couldn’t decide for the longest time whether I wanted short hair or long hair.

Something really exciting is that Aaron and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on June 28th. I don’t have any pictures from the day we celebrated simply because we were both just enjoying spending the day together and didn’t pull out our phones or anything like that.

And finally 4th of July was a blast. These pictures of fireworks are actually from one of our friend’s mom seeing as my phone was at 2% when the fireworks started. We went to a bbq at our friend’s house and later that day we got to a perfect spot to watch the fireworks. Because we got there so early we killed some time throwing a football and frisbee around and then we went back to our friend’s house to play with sparklers and set off a couple of smaller fireworks.

Summer 2017 so far has been a blast and I hope you’re all having a great summer too!!

Trying to Get Healthier

Lately I have decided that it’s time I tried to get healthier considering that I have definitely put on some weight and it would just be good to try and get healthier anyway. I would just like to say that I am not vegetarian or vegan and I do not ever plan on becoming either, so there is not point in trying to pressure me into becoming either by constantly saying I should become one of those.

I have set myself a goal to drink two of this bottle full of water. I might actually bump it up to three considering I’ve been making the original goal fairly easily. It may not seem like a lot but for me even if I cut out other drinks, I won’t just start drinking water, so I had to set a goal and it’s going great.

Our fridge is now full of a lot more veggies as well seeing as I have been having a salad every day for lunch which I personally enjoy eating a salad a lot. I just sometimes like a burger or something else more.

This last grocery shopping trip I didn’t buy any frozen food either (the mozzarella sticks only have two left and that’s from when I just had surgery and couldn’t stand in order to cook food). I have been actually making dinner from recipes hence also why there are more vegetables in the house. The only thing that gets frozen is the meat to make sure it doesn’t go bad before I can get to making dinner with it.

With trying to be more healthy I am not completely cutting out bad things like soda and more unhealthy foods. I am just trying to limit my intake of them and make healthier foods and water my more normal every day diet.

I also have started walking the dog again and I’m doing the exercises I can, but of course my foot is still healing, so out of my two ten minute work out routines I can only do about 6 and half minutes of one. I’m not really sure why I decided to share this, but why not? Maybe it will inspire other people to not necessarily do this exact thing, but something else to help them feel better about themselves (not saying that you have to hate yourself in order to want to change things of course).
