Realizing The Babies Have Taken Over

If you have kids do you ever just look around your house randomly and realize “these kids have taken over”? I was just noticing that today with the fact that they have even taken over the bathroom of all places.

From their dirty onsies and clothes being here (as we don’t have our hamper living with my aunt and uncle for now) to the bathtub for the younger one just chilling in our normal size bathtub. The evidence of them is everywhere and keeping the house perfectly clean around them just doesn’t happen.

Honestly it’s fine by me cause striving to get back to the point where I can be a full time stay at home mom, I genuinely love doing things like cleaning and cooking. It gives me a sense of purpose and leaves me feeling greatly fulfilled.

All this to say I just find it funny how the moment you bring even your first baby home, they just take over your entire house.

Getting Some Cleaning Done Finally

I’m not even gonna try to pretend that while I was pregnant I was on top of lost chores as I most certainly was not. We are currently living with Aunt and Uncle for temporary (hopefully we will be able to move out on our own again in a few months), so we only have our bedroom that is totally our space. The thing is, our bed takes up the majority of the room along with my Aunt’s crafting supplies and being pregnant it was not easy to maneuver around. So basically I just ended up letting the room turn into a mess.

Well today my husband and I said no more and got this room much more cleaned and organized. We got all the trash picked up, started organizing certain things more and cleaned off his desk.

Now that I am no longer pregnant I am also getting all my clothes organized AKA storing maternity clothes and pulling out my regular clothes now that they will actually fit. I’ll be taking this time to do a little clean out of clothes and see what fits, hopefully though basically everything I have still fits.

If I end up having to buy new clothes of course I will make a post for that as who doesn’t like seeing what other people buy.

Bedroom Spring Cleaning

Since it is actually starting to get warm here in Kansas I decided that it was time to do some major decluttering all through out the house. I’ve only started in the bedroom and my hours at work are starting to pick up again, so it might be a bit before I can get the rest of the house done, but here is our bedroom.

The top one is my night stand before and as you can tell it gets fairly cluttered. It’s one of those places where I just end up throwing random crap (don’t act like you don’t have those places too). Ignoring the fact that Oliver decided to photo bomb I managed to get most of the stuff that didn’t need to be on my night stand off and the things that did stay up there in a more organized state.

The top of my dresser is yet another place where crap just gets thrown and forgotten. I know my fox onsie makes it still look cluttered, but I don’t really have any other place to put it, so there it stays. I’m going to make a conscious effort to not just throw my sweatshirts up there when I get home from work, cause that’s what usually just gets tossed up there.

It’s a little harder to tell what got cleaned up in the closet, but basically what I did was stacked all the backpacks and travel bags into the suitcase since it made sense to just keep them all together like that. I had already cleaned out the clothes I didn’t wear or that didn’t fit anymore that were piled at the bottom, so trust me it actually looks a lot better than it did.

And that is all I have managed to clean so far. It doesn’t seem like much, but I feel pretty accomplished!

Organizing my Jewelry

I got some new necklaces and earrings today and while my earrings are tidy (only because they are stored in a box that has small sections cause it’s technically a bead box) my box for all my other jewelry was a complete disaster. It’s not really the best for organizing jewelry only because it is actually a crafters box I got at Jo-Ann. Either way I decided it was time to clean up the mess. IMG_0190.JPG

This is the unorganized nightmare that was my jewelry before I did any sort of cleaning. Yes, it is a tangled mess where it can take some time to find whatever it is you’re actually looking for. While I was going through it I found a fair amount of jewelry that I never even actually wear, so I decided it was time to just take them out and get rid of them. IMG_0191.JPG

On the very top shelf I have my turtle necklaces in one place, key necklaces in another section and then my two new cat necklaces in the last section. I figured it would be best and easiest if I tried organizing my jewelry by category. IMG_0192.JPG

In the next row we have a two sections for fandom stuff, a place for my new tree necklaces, and then my two anklets. I actually love anklets and definitely need to start wearing the two I have more often cause I really do love them, but first I’ll have to fix the purple turtle one. And yes, I do love turtles a lot, though they are not my favorite animal (foxes are my fav). IMG_0193.JPG

In the very bottom tray I have placed all my bracelets, my watch, and a little purple choker that came with the tree necklace seeing as it didn’t really fit in the other sections. It looks so much better and I will actually be able to find the pieces I am looking for now, which means I will actually start bothering to wear my jewelry and different jewelry at that more often.

Cleaning Out the Closet

So today I took a good long look at my closet and dresser and decided it was time to do some cleaning I feel like I have a lot of clothes and a lot the clothes that I have I don’t even wear. First off let’s look at the closet. IMG_0183.JPG

I don’t know why the pictures turned out kind of blurry, but you can get the idea. There are a lot of things hanging up in that closet. Next let’s look at the dresser or at least the one picture that actually turned out. IMG_0187.JPG

This picture doesn’t show the true magnitude of the fullness of my dresser, but again it’s the best I have. After seeing just how many clothes were sitting there I decided it was time to clear some of this clutter out and donate it. The donating part will be done tomorrow obviously as it is already 6:20 at the time I am writing this post. IMG_0188.JPG

You are seeing it right that is about four grocery bags worth of clothes that I either never wear or just don’t fit me anymore as they are years old (I’m talking like some of these clothes are from early high school and I will be turning 22 in May). Hopefully these clothes will be able to go to people who need them and will actually wear them unlike me once I donate them tomorrow. See you all next time!

Cleaning Day

Seeing as it was New Year’s Eve and we hadn’t done a true clean up since our temporary roommate moved out at the beginning of November, we decided that it was time to organize the house. We got a lot done such as getting Aaron’s office organized, cleaning the animals’ cages and just getting the place tidied up.

Today I decided to finish up the cleaning as there were some places that ended up getting messy due to our straightening out everything else. One such place was the dining room table. It had been clean, but then since it was an empty place we just threw a bunch of our crap onto it as we were cleaning so that we could get that stuff out of the way. It’s still not perfectly clean, but it’s so much better now. IMG_0159.JPG

The next place I had to clean up was my desk. That actually didn’t take too long, but I am still so much happier with it being more organized and wiped off of all the cat litter that used to be there. We had to put Spooky’s litter box on top of Shaymin the hedgehog’s cage as our dog would get in the litterbox. But we went to PetCo the other day and finally got a covered litterbox, so my desk will no longer be covered in litter and his box is out of sight in the bathroom. IMG_0160.JPG

Lastly, I finished cleaning Aaron’s office by vaccuming the floor and getting rid of some empty, useless boxes that had accumulated in there. To give him credit where credit is due, Aaron did 95% of the cleaning of that room by himself when we initially started cleaning the entire apartment and I think he did a great job. IMG_0162.JPG

Our apartment is still definitely not perfectly clean, but it is so much better than it was and I’m super happy and proud of us for taking the initiative to finally clean this place up some.
