Rainy Spring Saturday

Of course we had our tease of some warm weather but have ended up with a rainy Saturday, the day I finally have off. The fact that I work from home is great cause I’m with the kids and we save money on child care, but also means that we can’t just leave during the day to do fun things.

When these kinds of days do happen we end up staying home (most of the time chilling in pj’s) and play with toys or watch TV. During the week the kids TV time is much more restricted so on the weekends we let them watch a little more TV. Especially when it’s rainy and gloomy.

These kinds of days definitely make me want to leave the northwest even more than I already do but that is a goal we are working towards. For now we will just do what we can to entertain on these rainy days.

Life With 3 Under 3

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post and here and that is just because life has gotten crazy. Between having a full time (thankfully) work from home job and our you get now being 4 months old it’s just been crazy.

With it being the northwest it gets decently cold during winter but for the most part it hasn’t been terrible. We’ve had some snow which was nice when it was closer to Christmas but I’m definitely over it by now. Speaking of Christmas the kids all definitely had a great one as with us working we were able to get them plenty of presents and we both even got two weeks off of work.

With the holidays all done we are just ready for spring and warmth and hubby is going to join the national guard for a year to see how he likes army before fully rejoining the military. Once that happens that will all be an adventure in itself.

For now though we’re not doing much exciting except for serving day to day and just looking forward to whatever the future holds!

Dealing With 2 Under 2 While Pregnant

First off, it’s exhausting. I could probably end it there and that would pretty much describe the majority of my experience. Having and almost 2 year old that seems to be wanting to test our her terrible 2s while the 7 and a half month old has started crawling and getting into everything is an adventure enough. Being almost 14 weeks pregnant and trying to keep up with these girls doesn’t make it any easier.

The thing was this time around the pregnancy was definitely not an expected surprise as we hadn’t been trying to get pregnant and had been wanting to wait a little longer before adding more kids. Before anyone says anything while I won’t go into specific details we ended up accidently getting pregnant anyway. Of course this wasn’t the end of the world as we want 5 kids in total, so thankfully it wasn’t really like it was the end of the world.

Probably the hardest part is just the fact that I feel so tired all the time and do get physically worn out rather quickly. If it was just chasing around these 2 crazy girls and keeping up with house chores it would definitely be easier, though of course not totally a breeze.

I do have to say though, through all of this I love watching my girls grow and seeing more of their personalities and interests come out. My oldest loves spiderman and is definitely the type who while she loves her little sister will also not be afraid to try and boss her around. My (now) middle child is one of the happiest babies I’ve ever seen besides her older sister. She loves Bluey and is always so determined to do whatever it is she wants, whether it was learning to crawl to now trying to stand on her own.

I do at least get the break and help on weekends/evenings when my husband is home as of course he loves hanging out with his kids. He will usually do the bed time routine and of course since he has more energy he is always down to wrestle with the toddler and get the baby crawling all over the place.

While it isn’t easy doing all this I definitely wouldn’t trade any of this for anything. Building this family with such and amazing man and amazing kids is one of my favorite things I have done and I look forward to where life takes us!

Spring is Here!!

It has finally happened here in Oregon: the weather has turned to nice spring weather.

And by that I mean for the most part it’s still cloudy till the afternoon, but the sun does eventually come out and it is at least warm all day. Even at night it’s only getting down to about 50 degrees which feels so nice.

We haven’t yet had a chance to take the girls to the park, but with the weather warming up like this we definitely will have to start planning some trips to the park. We also want to take them to the zoo and the Seattle aquarium once get the free time to do so as for the zoo we definitely wanted to wait till it warmed up to go.

With it warming up I also can’t help but already start making all the plans for summer of swimming, going to places like OMSI, and just all that fun stuff we’ll be able to do with our little family. Of course our dog Lilah will be joining us on any outings she can.

Here’s to the start of spring and waiting for summer to make some fun memories!!

Winter Blues

I don’t want to just straight up call it depression as actual depression is a long term thing and it doesn’t even feel like exactly the right word to describe it. Either way something I definitely deal with every year (and I’m sure a lot of other people do to) is winter blues.

January and February I swear are always the worst months of the year for me. At this point I am good and done with the cold, holidays are all essentially over, and it just feels like a long stretch. I’m not a big fan of spring, so at this point I am just waiting for summer and all the fun and warmth that comes with it. I feel part of that is I grew up in the northwest for 19 years and have been stuck living here for a little over a year again and the weather here SUCKS. While I enjoy rain to some extent, I get over it pretty quick when it’s basically all that happens. It’s even worse for the fact that summer doesn’t really last that long around here.

It’s always around this time of year that it is extremely hard to find motivation to do things, even stuff I really enjoy. In some ways having kids has helped keep me out of the funk as much cause when you have kids you have to do things to keep them entertained. Of course that is harder this time of year as well as going places like even just to the park isn’t even much of an option.

For anyone else who feels this way honestly the best advice I can give is to just push yourself. Letting the motivation leave and just sitting around doing nothing will only make things worse and make this season seem even longer. Happy almost end of winter, let’s hold on till summer!

Merry Christmas 2021!!

I normally don’t write any blog posts on the weekend, but I wanted to give a quick merry Christmas!

It wasn’t a terrible Christmas this year and both of my daughters did pretty damn good in presents honestly without being too spoiled (which is always a good thing). Of course there is always the holiday stress such as dealing with grandparents trying to take the reigns on parenting for the day.

For the most part though things went smoothly. My Christmas present will be showing up late and so will my husband’s cause I admittedly have yet to order it for him.

All in all another great holiday and a good first Christmas for my littlest one. We sadly didn’t get any snow this year, though it did rain so I guess there was some precipitation at least.

The husband and I even got some time to play some video games together before I had to go to work tonight so that is always a great thing as well. At this point just looking forward to the new year and excited to see what it brings!

Short Family Trip

We had to go on a two day trip this past weekend and while it wasn’t really a vacation as it was for some business stuff we still were able to enjoy the little time we had.

We had to go to Northern California and seeing as we live in Oregon it wasn’t very far to travel, but the way the travel was set up it took an entire day to get to our destination. It ended up being two planes and two bus rides in order to settle into our hotel which admittedly is a rather nice hotel. It had carpet floors which are perfect when you have little ones and a shower with one of those waterfall shower heads.

Thankfully we did get a lot of walking practice for our toddler as we had to walk everywhere. She was honestly loving it though and it while it was pretty cold at night, the days actually got up to almost 70s, so it was perfect weather for walking.

There was actually a really cool park not too far from our hotel that was specifically made for smaller kids as anyone over the age of thirteen wasn’t allowed in (except for parents supervising kids obviously). If it was summer there would’ve been a super cool pool in the park that was huge and looked like a regular pond with a waterfall going into the actual river, but alas we of course couldn’t use it.

Not much else really happened minus spending quality time as a family, but really what else could you ask for?

Thanksgiving 2021

So yesterday I posted about ny fears and concerns for Thanksgiving day. I am very happy to say that it did not go near as bad as I had feared. Honestly, it didn’t go bad in any capacity and was actually a pretty good day.

My mom was actually respectful of boundaries and asked to hold the baby instead of being demanding about it. She also didn’t even try to bother asking until we had been there for a few hours so it wasn’t like she was immediately jumping down my throat about it.

On to less serious topics. The food was of course delicious as always featuring some ham for me (as I do not like turkey) and a major highlight of rolls my uncle makes from scratch.

We ended up playing a round of monopoly that took a lot longer than we thought it was going to. Almost had to leave early as I sadly have to go to work tonight (don’t worry it’s not a retail job I work as a valet for now while we get our finances in order for me to be able to go back to being a full time stay at home mom).

I am so thankful for my husband, my daughters, and of course my fag little corgi Delilah. Looking forward to many more Thanksgivings to come!

TV Shows I Have Been Watching

Considering I of course spend plenty of time at home and gaming, writing, video making and taking care of my daughters aren’t the only things I do I figured I would let everyone know what it is I have been enjoying.

1. Married At First Sight. I will fully admit to the fact that I watch trashy reality shows. I am picky on the trashy reality shows that I watch though as 90 day fiancee and it’s 500 spin offs are the main ones I watch and I definitely don’t watch things like keeping up with the Kardashians or jersey shore. I want things similar to 90 days as I love watching things that revolve around normal family life and married at first sight has that with an interesting spin. The show is people literally agree to let four experts on relationships match them with a partner where the first time they meet it is to legally get married. They then spend 6 weeks together as a married couple and have to decide whether or not they want to stay married to see if the experiment was a success. Is it garbage reality show? Yes. Do I absolutely love it and get sucked into the drama anyway? Yes. What can I say I enjoy drama, just not having to experience it in my own life.

2. The Office. All right some of you may have seen this coming. This is my tried and true, all time favorite comfort show. I have rewatched it all the way through about 13 times already and there is no end in sight. For anyone who doesn’t know the show is a mockumentary following people living day to day life at their office job and of course just everything that follows around it. I have watched Parks and Rec and while I do enjoy the show I personally love The Office more. I honestly don’t even know what it is about this show that I love so much, but it truly is a show I will always go back to. My husband doesn’t like the show at all, but he is the best husband in the world and bought me the boxed DVD set for my 25th birthday cause he loves me more than he hates the office.

3. Cocomelon. Seeing as I have fully admitted to having two daughters this one will probably come as no surprise. My daughters are the ones who are obsessed with and love this show, so this one is not by my choosing. For anyone who doesn’t have small children Cocomelon is just a bunch of songs that teach things like brushing teeth or take about things like holidays and just all the basic kind of baby toddler song stuff you can think of. I have no idea why children everywhere are so obsessed with this show, but they are and parents everywhere understand the pain we all go through with Cocomelon.

4. Ultimate Spiderman. My husband is a huge Spiderman fan, so of course he wanted to introduce it to his kids as well. Turns out it’s a giant hit with our oldest daughter. She absolutely loves Spiderman and for her first birthday we bought her a plushie of him she loves the show so much. Ultimate Spiderman is one of the better animated series and it follows Peter Parker at high school age being recruited by shield along with some other heroes. I’m not the biggest super hero fan, but watching our daughter enjoy the show with her daddy makes me wanna watch the show all the time. And I do genuinely enjoy Spiderman as he is one of the few super heros that I actually like.

5. Bluey. Last but not least this show is the one that is a bigger hit with our younger daughter. I actually rather enjoy this show myself and while each episode is less than 10 minutes with only two seasons there are plenty of episodes on Disney+. The show follows 6 year old Bluey and her 4 year old sister Bingo as they just go about their lives learning about life. As far as kids shows go it may not be the most innovative as who hasn’t seen a kids show with anthropomorphic animals living normal every day life, but the characters are plenty interesting and it’s the first show I’ve seen made in Australia. It’s got cute dogs and some honestly really sweet tear jerking moments for parents as the parents in the show experience big things with their kids that will resonate with the parents watching the show.

Those have been the shows I have been watching the most lately, some of them maybe not by my own choice. Either way it’s always nice to have a variety of things to entertain yourself with.

How to Entertain Yourself as a SAHM

A lot of people assume being a stay at home would be boring, but let me tell you it is definitely not. Even outside of just dealing with all your kids problems there are plenty of ways you can entertain yourself.

For instance, you can get your eye liner and draw eyebrows on your baby. They were supposed to be angry eyebrows but of course a baby moves a lot so they ended up coming out as more inquisitive old man ones. It still had the same effect of being quite entertaining and of course it is perfectly harmless fun as well.

Another thing you can do is be spoiled and have your husband buy you a giant Groupon plushie. Side not anyone else super excited for the new season of Mandolorian? One thing I have found out is that I was never a fan of the Star Wars but honestly love extended universe content such as Rogue One movie, Mandolarian and The Bad Batch.

Anyway back to the giant Grogu plushie it is soft and adorable and the dog seems to think it makes a perfect bed for her. Is it childish? Yes. Do I care? No.

Really to entertain yourself being a stay at home it’s just all about making sure you maintain hobbies that you enjoyed before having a baby or even just getting new hobbies that are just for you!
